Content Rights - How to sync existing ads to track usage rights

Last updated: January 14, 2026

Overview

Sync with Meta Ads allows you to import existing ads from Meta Ads Manager and create folders in Content Rights to track usage rights in Superfiliate.

Use this feature when you want to:

  • Bring already active Meta ads into Content Rights without recreating them

  • Organize ads by piece of media into folders for rights tracking

  • Keep your current campaigns compliant by monitoring usage rights per ad

In this article, you will learn:

  • How to use Sync with Meta Ads

  • Limitations, errors, and troubleshooting steps

Requirements

Make sure that:

  • You have access to the Meta Ads Suite plan

  • Your Meta Ads integration is connected and syncing correctly

  • You have existing ads in Meta Ads Manager that you want to track in Content Rights

Important limitations

  • If the ad is an carousel, it cannot be synced to Content Rights due to technical limitations of the Meta integration.

  • Even if there is already a folder with the same media, Superfiliate may not automatically recognize the match when the media identifier is different (for example, if one ad was created via Superfiliate and another was created manually in Ads Manager). In this case, you can manually choose to merge with the correct folder.

Step-by-Step

1. Accessing Sync with Meta Ads

  1. Go to Meta Ads > Content Rights.

  2. Click Sync with Meta Ads to start the flow.

2. Setting up Sync with Meta Ads

The sync flow has three steps:

Step 1: Choose an ad to sync

  1. In the ad list, you will see eligible ads from Meta Ads Manager. Just the ads without a folder will appear in this list.

  2. Click Select on the ad you want to sync and proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Choose how to organize

  1. You will see a preview of the media used in the selected ad.

  2. Superfiliate will try to detect if there is an existing folder that already contains the same media.

  3. Choose how to organize the media:

    • Create a new folder — use this when no folder exists yet for this media.

    • Merge with existing folder — use this when you know the media is already in another folder (only folders for the same creator will be shown).

Only merge with a folder that contains the same media. We do not recommend merging if the folder contains a different asset, as each media can have different usage rights.

  4. Click Next to continue.

Step 3: Review and Find More Ads

  1. Review the summary of ads linked to the folder:

    • If you merged with an existing folder, you will see all ads associated with that folder.

    • If you created a new folder, you will see only the ad selected at the beginning of the flow.

  2. (Optional) Click Find more related ads:

    • Superfiliate will search for other synced ads that use the same media.

This is a helpful shortcut when you have multiple ads with the same asset and want to group them quickly into one folder.

  3. After reviewing, click Confirm.

  4. The folder will be created or updated, and you can then configure the usage rights (e.g., unlimited or total days of allowed usage, usage window period).
