UTM Parameters in Superfiliate
Last updated: December 24, 2024
UTM parameters are text strings appended to URLs, which in the case of Superfiliate are your affiliate links, that pass along additional information so that you can later track the effectiveness of your campaigns in external analytics programs (like Google Analytics).
The current default UTM parameters appended to links generated via Superfiliate are:
utm_campaign={{CREATOR CODE}}
utm_medium=microsite
utm_source=superfiliate
These parameters can be customized per program upon request, just remember that all customizations will be static (whereas the current campaign value is the only dynamic parameter and the only one unique to each Superfiliate)
If you’re unsure what UTMs your team uses, we recommend checking internally with your email and/or ads counterparts, as UTMs are case sensitive and it’s important to be consistent within your organization to properly group traffic sources
When you set up affiliate links to point directly to your website, UTMs are included as soon as the links are clicked and a shopper lands on your website
When you utilize the microsite/custom landing pages, UTMs are passed through when shoppers navigate to the checkout portion (as this is when they move from the microsite to your website and the traffic is visible to you)
Make sure you also complete Superfiliate’s Google Analytics integration in Integrations>Google Analytics
If you have not set up your custom domain, you will also need to complete cross-domain tracking in GA4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4kBqTijBVo in order to track traffic from the landing pages to your website
