How to configure a Meta Reward Group (Partnership Ads commission)

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Overview

Configuring a Meta Reward Group means filling in one short form that defines how creators earn commission when their content runs as Meta Partnership Ads. Instead of setting commission on each ad by hand, you build the reward group once and assign it to as many ads as you like.

When you create a Reward Group, you first choose its type — Influencer program reward (for Shopify referral programs) or Partnership Ads commission (for Meta ads). This article covers the Partnership Ads commission type.

The form is the same whether you're creating a new group or editing an existing one. To open it, go to Reward Groups in the sidebar and click New Reward Group, or open Meta Ads → Ads Management and click New Reward Group while assigning rewards to your ads.

Important behaviors

  • One short form. A Meta Reward Group has two required inputs — a name and a commission rule (a percentage of ad spend). Optional earning thresholds let you fine-tune when commission applies.

  • Commission is a percentage of ad spend. Today, ad spend is the only basis and percentage is the only unit. Creators earn the set % of the spend behind the ads their content powers, credited to their wallet.

  • Assign to one or many ads. A Reward Group is reusable — assign it to a single ad or bulk-assign it across many ads from Ads Management.

  • Status reflects usage. A group shows as Unassigned (not on any ad yet), Assigned (in use on at least one ad), or Archived (retired).

Step-by-step

1. Open the Reward Group form

Go to Reward Groups in the sidebar and click New Reward Group, or open Meta Ads → Ads Management and click New Reward group. If prompted, choose the Partnership Ads commission type (the Meta option).

2. Name your Reward Group

Enter a clear, recognizable name — it's internal only. Tip: include the campaign or season (e.g., Q1 Summer Campaign Rewards) so it's easy to spot in the list.

3. Set the commission basis ("Based on")

This is the metric that drives commission. Today it's fixed to Ad spend — commission is calculated from the ad spend behind the creator's content.

4. Set the commission rate ("Commission")

Enter the percentage creators earn on ad spend. It must be greater than 0% and can be up to 100%.

5. (Optional) Set earning thresholds per ad

Turn on Earning thresholds per Ad to control exactly when a creator starts and stops earning on an ad:

  • Set a minimum — once an ad reaches this spend amount, commission unlocks on the total spend accumulated.

  • Set a maximum — once an ad reaches this spend amount, the creator's commission locks and no further earnings are added. The maximum must be greater than or equal to the minimum.

6. Save

Click Create (or Save when editing). The group appears in your Reward Groups list as Unassigned until you assign it to one or more ads.

7. Assign the group to your Meta ads

In Meta Ads → Ads Management, select the ad(s) you want, then assign this Reward Group. Once assigned, its status changes to Assigned and creators begin earning per your rules.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. What's the difference between the two Reward Group types?

A. Influencer program reward defines how creators earn and what referred customers receive in your Shopify referral programs. Partnership Ads commission (this article) defines how creators earn commission on Meta ad performance. You pick the type when you create the group.

Q2. How is the commission calculated?

A. As a percentage of ad spend — the spend behind the ads that use the creator's content. The earned amount is credited to the creator's wallet as an ad reward commission.

Q3. What do the earning thresholds do?

A. The minimum delays earning until an ad has spent a set amount, then unlocks commission on the total accumulated spend. The maximum caps earning — once the ad hits that spend, no further commission accrues. Both are optional; leave them off to earn on all spend from the first dollar.

Q4. What do the group statuses mean?

A. Unassigned = created but not yet on any ad. Assigned = in use on at least one ad. Archived = retired and no longer selectable for new ads.

Q5. Can I reuse one Reward Group across multiple ads?

A. Yes — that's the point. Assign the same group to as many ads as you like and manage the commission rule in one place; changes apply wherever it's assigned.
